Action group secures partial funding for judicial review

The Residents Against Waste Site (RAWS) have been advised in principle that South Ribble Council will provide some financial support towards the residents battle to obtain a judicial review of Lancashire County Councils’ decision to build a large waste recycling station at Farington, Leyland.

39 Councilors voted in favour of contributing to RAWS, their contribution is believed to be as much as £35,000. South Ribble Council is able to provide assistance under Section 2 of the Local Government Act 2000. This enables grants to be provided where the fund would promote the environmental well being of the area.

RAWS has so far raised £32,000 of the estimated £60,000 needed to ensure judicial review of the Councils decision.
